Innocence Lost
01/15/03 |
December night, a bus stop, a lonely child
Mom again forgot to pick her up
Through mounds of dirt covered in snow
The shivering little girl walks home
Softly singing a lullaby
Moon and stars lighting her way
Danger
Run
Trapped
Bearded faces, cold glittering eyes
Hard hands pulling her to the ground
Hot breath in her face
A mocking voice
"Welcome to love, darling"
A scream of terror no one hears
Fearful eyes, filled with tears
Pain slicing through her slender frame
Changing faces, brutal hands
Menacing laughter
The pain stays the same
Innocence is ripped away
Bloodstained snow
Consciousness flees
They walk away
Her spirit looks back at the battered child
On the crimson snow, left to die
Eyes wide with terror staring back
Falling snow covering the crime
She can not leave her just like that
So young, so hurt, she decides to act
She creates in a corner of her mind
Around the slowly dying child
A sun-filled meadow, a healing mist
A blanket of sleep and gentle dreams
Dragons, elves and sprites to guard her
And gently places in her arms
Her innocence,
Her shattered soul
Her broken heart
Softly crooning a lullaby
She builds a fortress around the sleeping child
In circles she walks, raising the walls
To preserve the child, that she once was
She bans the memories of that night
Guards what is hidden from prying eyes
Found at last, frozen and pale
Barely alive, they rush her away
So many questions, no answers come
She had banned it all from her conscious mind
Long forgotten that fateful night
Those brutal faces that left her to die
Forgotten the terror
Forgotten the pain
Crimson snow fading away
Years pass by, no one speaks
Of things best forgotten, ghosts best left asleep
Time heals all wounds, or so they say
What a charming child, gentle and bright
Just look at that smile....
And no one can see, what was stripped away
Like Phoenix from ashes there rose
A young woman, strong and bright
Confident, determined, ruthless perhaps
She walks where she wills, does what she wants
Never looks back, as she wanders away
From the broken hearts, she left in her wake
Life is a play
Love is a game
Happiness is a fairy tale
In the hidden fortress within her mind
Lies sleeping, the child she once had been
Her heart and soul, her innocence
Dreaming of a life that will never be
Locked away from prying eyes
Guarded by dragons, elves and sprites.

Dreamer
4/16/03
|
Such is the dreamer
Invisible, intangible, unreal
Drifting through time, forever seeking
Believing in the unbelievable
Dreaming of love eternal
Looking for a star
And never knowing why
He just keeps drifting in dreams
Catching what can not be caught
Holding what can not be held
Living in a world, that does not exist
Seeking his eternal love
Reaching for his special star
And never knowing why
Until one day he finds this world
Forever leaves reality behind
Becoming one with space and time
Truly invisible, truly intangible
Wrapped within eternal love
He touches that elusive star
Understanding why, at last

Goodbye Sarah
05/01/03 |
I often think of Sarah
My sweet and loving little cat
Walking through my life on velvet paws
I still recall your last journey
The day I took you to your death.
How small you were, torn apart by cancer
Looking about you,
Blinking into the sunlight
That you will never see again
So fragile, as I held you for the last time
The love and trust in your amber eyes
And still I hear that cry of pain
See the question in your eyes
"Why do you let them hurt me"
I feel the tears of sorrow and anguish
Hear my own words, whispered softly to you
"I am so sorry my little one
You were not meant to hurt, just sleep and forget
No pain, no terror, just peaceful death."
That small and lifeless body
Those broken eyes I closed
Soft fur wet with tears
Forgive me, my little friend.
In memory of my cat Sarah, she died May 1st, 2002

Who Am I?
05/11/03 |
I am a picture, an image
Words on paper, on a screen
Unspoken, unheard, unseen
A single piece of the puzzle of life
In a box, forgotten, lost long ago.
I am the sleeping princess
The dragon guarding a treasure
Tales of faerie from times gone by
An untold story, a song never sung
A voice from a mystical past.
I am the swirling fog
Around a fortress in the sky
Guardian of dreams, keeper of memories
A moat of unshed tears
Hiding the bridge from reality's touch.
I am the silver light of the moon
Illuminating the mists, cast up
Upon a knight's plutonium shore
The gentle waves of history
Washing over bleached, forgotten bones.
I am a single droplet
In the waterfall of time
The currents in the ocean
The pounding of the surf
The movement of the tides.
I am the caress of the nightwind
Cooling the sleeper's heated brow
Giving wing to dreams
Sending thoughts to the clouds
Touching a loved one far away.
I am strength and weakness
The single tear of sadness
Blood flowing from a wounded heart
Master of a promise kept
Slave to a shattered dream.
I am the smile that lifts you
The frown that casts you down
Love and forgiveness
Scorn and revenge
Lighting a candle and snuffing it out.
I am hate and betrayal, a scream of rage
The fight for survival, defiant and brave
Terror of nightmares, lust of carnal dreams
A broken heart, cast away on a whim
Heaven and hell, and all in between.
I am the joy of victory
The agony of defeat
A glimmer of hope
A beggar at your feet
Pride that turns away from pain.
I am the sheltering womb
The mother nursing an infant
The hand that guides a child
Eyes that watched it grow
To see an adult walk away.
I am the voice that told a story
A million questions asked
The answers to a curious mind
Teacher and student
Knowledge imparted, secrets withheld.
I am desire, the heat of passion
Fire that sears your soul
The erotic touch of a lover
A sensual kiss, a sigh
The moans of a blissful night.
I am the gentle hand
That rocks the cradle of the world
Sunrise, sunset, a soothing rain
The awesome power of a storm
Paradise found and paradise lost.
I am the ship in the night
Passing unseen, unknown
The shadow of sails, fleeing from sight
A mournful song, cast adrift on the waves
Sung by the souls lost at sea.
I am the tradewind of time
A shimmering star in the sky
The beacon of a lighthouse
A guide in the darkness of night
The sheltering harbor's welcoming light.
I am the circle of life
Child, maiden, woman and crone
Innocence, love, desire and death
Laughing, crying, living, mourning
A once forgotten dream reborn.
I am Eve.
From one woman to all women, we are all Eve.

Somewhere In Time
07/06/03 |
By the riverbank sits dreaming
The princess fair of times gone by
Gazing upon the waterfall
Tumbling relentlessly over the cliff
Into it's lovers arms
And in the river's strong embrace
It travels far and wide
To join the mighty sea.
If she could be the waterfall
The river be her knight
She too would fall into his arms
Her love of sleepless nights.
And can you see those droplets
Dancing in summer's gentle winds
Like tiny sprites, gossamer wings
Sparkling in the light
Forming softly billowing clouds
They roam the skies to once return
As gently falling rain
To earth's loving embrace.
Oh, if her falling tears could be
Like all those clouds above
To gently rain upon her knight
And softly kiss his brow
There is that rainbow yet again
That shimmering bridge of light
Leading the way to distant lands
A faerie realm of magical dreams
Across that bridge he slowly strides
Her love, the faerie knight
Not seeing her, quite unaware
He fades into the light.
If he could know, if he would feel
The longing in her heart
Would he have turned and come to her
And take her in his arms
Eons later, here we are
The children of technology
We listen to the tales of old
Of faerie knights, of maidens fair
Shimmering castles in the air
And deep within our soul resides
The memory of magic times
To knowledge sacrificed.
Yet in our hearts we know
Had we been her so long ago
We'd walked across that bridge of light
To be with our love, the magic faerie knight.

The Song Of Power
07/15/03 |
You're young and bold and full of pride
The world yours for the taking
The song of power in your mind
You step upon the shining path
A tyrant in the making.
Your road is clear, no time to stop
Your focus only on success
Ignore the cries, the pleas for help
The world can wait, don't hesitate
No room for love and tenderness.
You reach the top and look around with shining eyes
Expecting cheers and admiration
But there is only sweat and blood
The cries of those crushed in your path
Darkness and desolation.
With tears of anger and despair you see the irony
Seduced by power's brutal tune
You joined the fools it caught before
And left behind in emptiness
Just howling at the moon.

Insanity
07/25/03
|
She lives in castles in the mist
In company of elves and knights
Creating worlds of fantasy
That no one ever sees
The world believes she is insane
They think her mind is gone
She looks at them expressionless
Not seeing them at all
They pry and probe and scan her brain
Intent to find a cure
Perhaps shock therapy will bring her back
They do not see the truth
She saw their world and could not bear
to live within it's cage
Her mind escaped her mortal shell
Her soul is flying free
She is a dreamer, don't they see
No place for her within their world
She found her home within herself
Never to return.

Late At Night
08/02/03 |
She is still awake, still reading
When she should be in her lover's arms (sleeping)
Every so often, her mind drifts to him
She completely forgets, at what chapter she'd been
A soft melody through her bedroom sings
Of things still to come, of (restless) dreams
Her thoughts sail away on the nightwind's wings
Will they whisper to him
Of the many things she had seen
Wrapped in the velvet of her dreams
So she turns off the light
Sends a kiss through the night
In hopes it will find him
Wondering why she's awake,
When she should be sleeping.

It Is Only An Illusion
08/15/03
|
Like a rosebud kissed by the rising sun
Young love unfolds in all its beauty,
Sweet and fragrant petals
Touched by the dew of innocence,
Greeting the dawn of time
Existing in the realm of illusions of forever.
As I am holding this fragile blossom
Time and reality raise their ugly heads
And slowly my hand closes
Crushing the soft petals
Watching it die slowly, agonizing
Leaving behind a bitter sweet memory
Of things unreal,
That were never meant to be.
And tears roll down my face,
Thinking of you...
